Seems a little expensive to me?? I do like Silverstone National and the May event could be a good warm up before France but I think I would want to do a 2 car relay to keep the costs down.

Hi Ed, these are 45 minute races and I believe that they are cheaper than the CSCC 40 minute races. As you say though, if your doing a 2 car relay or sharing a car, then it is providing quite good value for money.

However, I still expect the MSVR races to provide the best value for money during the main part of the season.

Having looked at the RAFMSA site today it appears that while Roadsports applies to the majority, ie all serving members, those of a sevensque persuasion, associates, look destined to run in the Sports Specials Class in the 'not' 45 minute races.
This for instance at Silverstone will involve 2 x races for Sports Specials.
It will be intersting to see how prices compare

I will be honest now but im not going to work round the AFRC Calendar there are lot of things going on out there not saying I would not race in the series and good luck to those that do, but I have my eye on other things. (CNC heads, MSV Allcomers etc)

The other thing that worries me slightly is the the 750mc reputation for bumper car type series.

Ian I hear where your coming from. Wink fi will follow the crowd as long as there is low cost racing and banter. I need to beat both the fezza and the old bloke in the Feltcher Horny  affraid  at some point.

The Silverstone race is on Saturday 2nd May which is the bank holliday weekend. Consequently, I am looking to arrive at Sillystone on Friday evening, race on the Saturday, then pop across to the Kit Car show at Stoneleigh on Saturday evening to camp ready for the show on Sunday and Monday Very Happy

Camping at the show for Kit Car drivers is £5 for the driver and £15 for passenger, which gives you camping for the weekend, live music on the Sunday night, and free entry to the show on both days. I am also looking at going for a drive out in the Hornet to the Cotswolds on both days as well.

Is anyone else up for this?

I have not been to this show since the early 80's, so would appreciate any comments on the show from those that have been in recent years. Do any of the other clubs have drive-outs, etc?

As below, the show has moved to Castle Combe.
The upside is that you could enjoy an extended drive out

Yes its a pit stop race as detailed at the top of the SRGT website Smile

16 cars on the entry list with a great array of cars. Ed you will have another Tiger to play with although its a Sunbeam Tiger with a V8!

Also Cheng in his fast Cobra, an Allard that has awesome power, a Camaro, some Mustangs, a D Type, Ginetta G4, Ascar V8, GT40, Dodge Challenger, MGB V8. Hopefully, should result in some good battles as there will be significant differences between cornering and straight line speed Very Happy

Cheng in the Cobra, plus the Allard have awesome power and will leave us in their dust, the Tiger is also very fast and will leave us behind. However, I reckon we should be able to hang onto the shirt-tails of maybe the Ascar V8, and probably vie for position with the Dodge Challenger and the Camaro, which puts us midfield.

We are using the full width sports screen and open top instead of the race screen and tonneau to slow the car down a bit and give you a chance to keep up with us tongue

On a serious note can you remind me on how the pit stop works as I have never done a pit stop race before. Is it just a case of come in after a certain number of laps, keep to the pit lane speed limit. Stop outside your garage? For 30 seconds? Keep engine running? Then back to the track?

Is that it?

For you Ed the pit stop will comprise of you coming to the pits bringing the car to a complete stop. Removing your helmet checking your make up and giving the car a quick polish and then straight back out on track again but don't forget that the finals say you must pull off in fifth gear.

I have no idea how the pit stop works im just assuming that Old man Fletcher will just keep shouting at me until he gets the desired response.
