Re: ST GOUENO 2015
I think you're all worrying too much. Tolls have been no problem to me towing the car with the motorhome. Where they are manned we just pay what they ask for and the same with the automatic ones where the cost is displayed.

Re: ST GOUENO 2015
Now that the entry list has been released, they will be looking at allocating the race numbers and the paddock spaces. Consequently, let me know if you want to be in the paddock as a group, and I will ask John if that can be arranged.

As a group would be better I won't have to walk far for spanners

Same here, I won't have to walk too far to piss everyone off!

Re: ST GOUENO 2015
Last time I was there, 2013, the paddock area was only marked out as spaces and not designated for particular entries.

For those that are interested, the exchange rate on the Euro has been very good the last few days

Re: ST GOUENO 2015
Previously, this was done as a group booking with an insurance company run by a hillclimber in Jersey, but I don't think this happens anymore. Previously it has been about £25 per event.
It would probably be best to ask the question on the Uphill Racers forum.

I'm not registered for that forum, could you pop the question on my behalf? Cheers
Re: ST GOUENO 2015
I have asked about the repat insurance on Uphill Racers, but no details.
Have also asked John Lloyd yesterday if he has any info, but none so far.
I will leave it a week or so and then try and dig out the details of the insurance company I used last time. If this is the route we go, then it will probably be cheaper to do it as a single policy, with a list of names on it.

A bloke at work has just returned from France and he was paying 1.34 Euros for diesel on the motorways and 1.15 (about 90p) at the cheapest garages.

Re: ST GOUENO 2015
Anyone else getting repat insurance? If so any leads appreciated. Maybe we should ask John Lloyd for any approved suppliers?
Oh and will I need to get a convertor for the motor home power lead?

I have asked John, but had no reply, might be worth you asking him as well.

Re: ST GOUENO 2015
Re power, last time they had a few big generator units spread around the paddock, so people had to use lots of splitters. Consequently we will need one frog connecter and a couple of splitters. I have a splitter.

Re: ST GOUENO 2015
Latest information from John (yesterday), medical repatriation insurance is not obligatory but is recommended. You will need a EHIC card however. The original low cost repatriation insurance from past years is no longer available and enquiries by several people to several insurers have indicated problems in obtaining it. The answer to me is therefore be careful.

Shocked to hear that Irish hillclimber Simon McKinley died whilst hillclimbing in Ireland on Saturday. He was at St Goueno when we were last there in 2010, and he was a very impressive driver. A sad loss.

Re: ST GOUENO 2015
No long now
Ordered my HANS yesterday, and should get it on Friday. Ordered my new helmet today and should get that on Friday as well, just hoping I can get it stickered up OK at St Goueno.
Just need to sort out the charging/battery problem on the MK2, service the motorhome and change a tyre on it, and replace the hitch damper on the trailer which died a death last weekend!

Re: ST GOUENO 2015
Helmet arrived, its the new V2 Supervent. Its even lighter than the V2 Pro, but its gloss black instead of satin black, and I do prefer the satin black. This time the SNELL label on the inside is clearly visible, consequently the scrotes, sorry scrutes don't have to pull away all the lining to find it!
Still need to get it MSA badged, but apparently there will be three UK scrutes at St Goueno
HANS should arrive on Monday.
New alternator arrived yesterday and nearly finished making the mount for it. New higher power starter motor should be built by middle of next week.
Hows everyone else getting on with their preparation?
