RACING OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2016

These are series/races which have caught my attention for 2016, what do the rest of you think?

MSVR ALLCOMERS SERIES

Two races (generally 20 minutes) per event, most likely to be on the same day.
No club membership required, no registration fee, no awards.

19 March – Snetterton 200
1 May – Cadwell Park
11 June – Brands Hatch Indy
13/14 August – Donington GP
3 September – Cadwell Park
TBC October – Snetterton 300
12/13 November – Brands Hatch Indy

CSCC OPEN SERIES

40 or 30 minute pit-stop races for 1 or two drivers or two cars as a relay. Also single 15 min races.
£39 club membership, £99 registration but can enter one event as a member guest without registering but no awards, awards for registered competitors. If you enter two races then there is the opportunity to race at Spa. There are special safety regs for racing at Spa, which may mean additional work to make our cars eligible, so could be a possibility for 2017?

Not sure of entry fees.

AFRC

40 minute race with 60 second pit-stop. 1 or 2 cars and 1 or 2 drivers.
£10 RAFMSA membership, £20 750MC membership, no registration fee, apparently no trophies for non-Service competitors.

Entry fee for first event is £325

750MC SPORTS SPECIALS

Normally 15 minutes races with double headers either over 2 days or 1 day
£20 750MC membership, £120 registration fee in 2015, but can enter a couple of events as a member guest for an extra fee of £25 but no awards. However, these have full grids and guests are only accepted once the registered racers have entered.

750MC ENDURO SERIES

Enduro races for 1 or 2 cars and 1 to 3 drivers.
£20 750MC membership, no registration fee.
This is for production sports and saloons classed by pwer/weight ratio, though kit cars may be accepted with discretion for an invitation class.

Entry fees are expected to be £595

19 Mar – Donington (2 hrs)
25 Jun – Snetterton 300 (2 hrs)
21 Aug – Silverstone Int (90 mins)

There are also a few singleton events with various other clubs, but I will leave these out for the time being to avoid confusion.

I have listed the above in order of my personal preference for the following reasons:

The MSVR races are a good length and at good venues, not sure what the prices will be in 2016, but they have been very good in the past, plus there is no membership or registration fees. They also attract large grids and some similar pace cars to race against. MSVR also treat you as a valued customer rather than a nuisance.

This new series looks promising and should have good sized grids. However need to pay a membership fee and also a registration fee if doing more than one event. I would like to race at Spa as well, but unsure of how much work will be required to prep the car.

Not sure about AFRC as the entry fee for the first event is quite expensive and the grids are relatively small, plus there are no cars of a similar pace other than Simon Wing.

We had two good races in the Sports Specials, but it is expensive to register, and as guests we are unlikely to get entries on the smaller sized grids.
The new 750 Enduro series looks promising, but might be too long for our cars and may cause problems with refuelling unless they let us do it in the Paddock. While the fee gives good miles/£, it is still an expensive race to enter.

My initial cherry-picking thoughts are:

End May / Early June – Euro-trip
CSCC 23/24 July – Anglesey (40 mins) probably as a guest.
MSVR 13/14 August – Donington GP
AFRC 10 Sep – Rockingham (if their getting good sized grids) or possibly Croft with NSSCC, or possibly Cadwell with MSVR
OCT/NOV – depends how the first part of the season has gone
Dec – Plum Pud @ Mallory

my choice of events are based on distance to travel, expected grid size and a preference for 2 quali sessions and 2 races as I find I only get up to speed in the third session. I may not have the funds or time to do all the events but I would like to do as many as possible.
