MSVR ALLCOMERS RACES IN 2016
I was speaking to the MSVR organisers at Snetterton at the weekend, and they will be having a season of allcomers races in 2016. However, instead of releasing the info just a few weeks before each event, they have decided to issue the dates at the start of the season, which will help people plan their calendar. Apparently, the first event will be in March at Snetterton.
I really enjoyed the Sports Specials races we did, but you still have to join the 750MC and pay a £25 guest fee. Consequently, I will be thinking long and hard about entering those in 2016 if the MSVR races are giving better value for money.

I will start a thread for 2016 events and put any interesting events in calendar order.
Just had a look at the photos on the MSVR webpage for the series and it certainly is an eclectic range of cars, theres even a girly metallic orange MGF

Looks like my first outing for this year will be the MSVR allocmers races at Cadwell on 1 May. Looking at taking the Mk4.
Its 20 min practice plus 2 x 20 min races for just £240

How did it go at Cadwell? This forum has been way to quiet recently. Any updates on the European Adventure?

Re: MSVR ALLCOMERS RACES IN 2016
Bit of a late reply, but Cadwell went well thanks. It was forecast for light rain so I was contemplating taking the Mk2 instead. However, in the end I took the Mk4 with a plan to use the old F Ford slicks I have if it was only going to be light rain. Thankfully, there were only a few spots of rain during the day.
There was a field of 19 cars, which is fine for Cadwell and a quick estimation of the field seeded me about 5th to 7th. Qualifying went well putting me 6th on the grid, but with a time almost 2 secs off my personal best, however I was more than that adrift of the leaders. At one stage in qualifying I was behind a white Pug 205 that had similar pace to Simon's, but he could take a fair bit of speed into the corners and had plenty of grunt down the straights, so I found it hard to pass him.
Gradually improved my times in both races, and finished 6th in both of them. Had two good starts, and held onto the shirttails of some of the leading cars for a couple of laps before they eased away. I had expected a Radical to catch up with me in race 2 as his pace had improved in race 1 making him slightly quicker than me, but managed to lose him on the start and never saw him in my mirrors through the whole race. Ed and family came along in their new motorhome to give it a run, and he said the Radical had got stuck behind the white 205 and the pair of them were having a great battle.
The smaller diameter of the slicks was limiting my speed down the straights, and due to their age are probably giving the same grip as the Ao48's, but they were giving great feedback and at only £9 a corner were giving real value for money
Moved with Ed onto the bubble car museum just down the road and camped/BBQ the night there, then looked round the museum the next morning. The owner came and looked over the car as he used to race 2CV's.

Next MSVR allcomers races are at Brands but were away in France then, which is a pity. However, there should be some at Oulton in July and I think Ed, Ian and myself will be entering those.
