Si 'Frodo' Frowen
Hi all some crusty old ex-Chief invited me...
Currently sat by the Pacific drinking a frosty beer on my honeymoon and can only tap at this on my phone - will give a proper hello when I get back to my laptop at home!

I read it as "Sir "Frodo" Frowen I knew you got titles in Cornflake packets but it still made me look twice

Re: Si 'Frodo' Frowen
So that'll be me back from honeymoon then, enjoying a cold drizzly UK instead of Bali...
Anyway, you all know me mostly anyway, but here goes - joined the RAF straight after A Levels in 2002 as a navigator, got streamed fast-jet and am currently on IX(B) Sqn flying the GR4 at Marham (occasionally - mostly in the Middle East!). Started racing in '06, firstly with a sprint at Barkston and then at Croft with a certain Mr Fletcher in May 06. I also took part in the first ever RAFMSA race at Mallory, a few rounds of CSCC Tintops, and the Northern Saloon and Sports Car Championship, driving my self-built Peugeot 205 GTi:
which eventually evolved into this, having a self-built engine running bike carbs:
I then got posted to Linton as an instructor, bought a Stuart Taylor Locoblade in a bit of a sorry state, and sold the 205:
After a few years of that (again, RAFMSA Race Challenge and NSSCC) the car was looking nice:
but I decided to sell it. Bought a sorry-looking Rover 216 GTi ex-Cup car and set about restoring, rejuvenating and racing that for a few years - before and after:
Should never have sold that car as it was great, but it still lives on in the hands of the Wing family Had to go to make room for the Kitten... I won't labour this as you've all seen it, but it has been a race car for 30 years, used to compete in Wendy Wools Special Saloons back in the day, and is fully spaceframed running a 4.0 litre Rover V8 pushing 330bhp. Currently sat at Marham looking sorry for itself, waiting for some engine work:
As and when it is back to health I'll probably take it back out in CSCC Special Saloons and the odd RAF events - or I might think about selling it... I also have a Scimitar that I am planning to restore into fast road/race spec after having it sat around for the last few years, and I could use the time and space. We'll see!
So nearly ten years of racing, barring the last couple which have been fairly empty due to doing over a year in Afghanistan in a thirty month period. Remains to be seen how long I'll be away on Op SHADER but I think I'll be away next month again. It has been a blast along the way, I've met some great people and had a great time with some wonderful mates - long may it continue! Might even do some ARDS instructing again if I ever get some free time...

Great to hear from you Frodo, and best of luck with sorting the Kitten. I was gutted when it wouldn't play at Combe, so I can only imagine how you felt!

^ qualified yes, raced no - did the meeting get cancelled? I can't remember. Either way some lovely chap lent me a lovely D Type replica that I could in no way have afforded to replace!!

And you made it look much better Simon
I must say you were pretty brave even contemplating racing Martyn's Jaguar, I had a shot in it up the taxi way at Barky and that was scary enough for me, mind you I did struggle to fit in it lol.
Got any pics of your Scimitar?
