As one door closes another one opens so I would like to introduce my new Fisher Fury 1.6 Cvh.

Picked up for a very nice price.

Engine is a 1.6 CVH Built by Roland Hayes of HT Racing Forged Pistons, Steel Rods 8000Rpm rev limit 148bhp and about 105lbft of torque its a little screamer. It will keep the engine bay warm until such a time I drop a Zetec in.

Body work is a bit tatty but its fitted with Single layer GRP Racie Bodywork.

Nice.

You will not know you are towing that after the Festa.

Good figures for a CVH, close to my standard 1800 zetec which also replaced a highly fetled CVH.

Some 13" rims there looking for some quality 13" Acb10's that I have in my collection

Took the fury out for a 40 mile blast last night relativley happy found some issues though

1 gearchange is really awkward between 2nd and 3rd and 4th doesent feel like a gear problem feels as if something is wrong with the gate

2 propshaft was fitted with a check strap in case of breakage was rubbing removed on roadside

3 the full cage has got to go getting out is nigh on impossible

So ive got a bit to do but generally quite happy

That's the plan Ed just not sure about the big wing.

Ive been a busy boy tonight took of the gear lever to have a look at what is going on in the box and there is a little plastic saddle type thing on the bottom of gearlever that is broken so im hoping that this is the cause of the gear selection problem.

Also took the roll cage off doesn't it look better without it.

Plastic saddle, sounds like a type 9 sort of box thing.
plastic one costs pennies though I believe Burtons do a funky brass or bronze saddle

Looking good, other than fitting a new roll cage, plus fiddling with the front ride height and spoiler, it looks as though there is not much required to get it ready for its first race Very Happy

And then you can start converting to a Zetec Cool

Judging by the gap between the bottom of the rad intake, and the bottom of the spoiler (when compared to the Phoenix bonnets on a race chassis) then I wouldn't be surprised if it was designed with a road chassis, which would then require the front end jacking up to give adequate ground clearance. Time for the angry grinder?

Its an interesting point really billy there is quite a comprehensive radiator ducting that mounts on the bonnet hinge framework and this has been constructed to angle downwards.the ducting and bonnet hinge are actually lower than the front edge of the spoiler so before I can ammend the front spoiler I need to angle the ducting back up on a level plane. I suspect that this was a bit of a cock up by the builder as they have had to raise the front of the car to compensate. It can be sorted but its a bit more work than just slicing the front of the spoiler back unfortunately

I will be interested to see if the RX8 box will fit I will be gutted if its to big as the shift action is far superior to the type 9 I will have to convert to a hydraulic clutch though with RX8.

Zetec sump is nearly complete. I now have a nice big set of dhla 45s. I need to source an inlet manifold and an ignition system

I wish whoever had built car had heard of Rivnuts or Dzus Fastners it was a pain to get the side pod off.

seriously I think they are the norm on a lot of Jeremy Phillips cars not sure if they offer any advantage over a conventional outboard setup

The inboard suspension has the capability of providing a rising rate suspension, whilst outboard inclined shocks suffer from a decreasing rate (as the front suspension compresses, the softer it becomes).

Very interesting.  I'm planning a Nodiz install on a Zetec and I've also been researching the RX8 gearbox to Zetec.  The gearbox receives rave reviews from most forums and opens up the option of previously avoided, inexpensive and plentiful diff ratios (3.77).  The major difference with my set up will be the bike carbs and manifold.

Shame I can't see the pictures on a work computer.

Alas sean I fear that the rx8 box wont fit a quick measure up reveals the furys tunnel to be 7inches and the rx8 box is about 9 1/2 . I will actually try the box in the tunnel tommorow as im not averse to moving the engine slightly forward butI do have a limit as to what will be aacceptable.

Nodiz arrived yesterday looks very well made so first impressions are good

Unfortunately I'm displaced from the chassis so can't compare measurements. It does seem to fit most sevenesque cars, so I remain hopeful. Nodiz are usually good for a group buy and I will need 3 when I return.
