Potential Track/Test day 2015

Post by IAN51 on Tue Oct 21, 2014 1:13 pm

My job takes me to Curbrough Sprint Course regular and whilst wasting an hour this morning watching a bike engined kit car testing the thought occured to me that Curbrough is rumoured to be very cheap to hire! Would anybody be interested in attending if we could arrange something next March time. It does not have to be Curbrough I hear that Blyton is not bad obviously it would need to be a weekday im just gauging a level of interest

I'm more for Blyton as it is selfishly closer for me and after doing both I think you can't really use a short Sprint circuit for a good test session you would learn a lot more from a long track where you can find out which bit of your is going to melt next. (Directed at my brummie mate) bom

Equally, Blyton is remote enough that no one can hear you being throttled by a generator cable Very Happy

Would it be worth seeing if the 16V Mini guys want to get involved in this? If enough of them are interested, it would make a big difference to the cost. I believe Curborough now has a cut-through so you can do a longer course.

Personally, I would prefer Blyton, but I expect Curborough would be much cheaper. We are also looking at doing a sprint at Blyton with the Mini-cross guys in April. My main issue would be the need to take a day off work. Also I much prefer to spend my money on competition than track days.

Hi Bill

Once we have a feel for Ian's proposal to hire Curborough on a weekday, we could then approach the 16V Mini guys to see what their interest is.

The current draft thought for our 2015 season regarding a sprint with the Mini-cross people at Blyton is a separate though similar thought and if people feel the need for a pre-season track day, then it may be possible to have a track day the day before the sprint (especially as some of the Mini guys may not have MSA licences for the sprint.

Consequently, lets discuss the possibilities on here first then approach the Mini guys to see if they want to get involved as well.

Thanks for the feedback gents ! I will get onto the Shenstone and district car club and see what kind off feedback I get. As billy says Curbrough has been changed slightly know and has a crossover in the middle of the track making it a bit more interesting.

If anybody wants to use blyton, let me k know first. I have plenty of contacts including Richard Usher (Mr. Blyton) who can get a day booked at a good price
