Thanks Billy. I have a cage for it but am reluctant to take it racing. The thought of a £100k shunt worries me a bit!

Understandable mate a lovley car that E type ! You will have to blow the dust off that MG Thing that you own thats assuming that it hasnt dissolved back into the ground yet !

It's OK, the king pins only pop out of the brass trunnions at low speed!

When I was a teenager (long time ago), I was in my mates mums Moggie, and we raced a Dolomite Sprint from Chester to the Nags Head in Spital (about 11 miles), the Sprint took the dual carriageway and we took the most direct route cross-country on narrow roads at ridiculous speeds (well for a Moggie anyway), and we won!!!!!

Left the pub later that night and as we went round a corner at about 20mph, the nearside king pin popped out and we slewed across the road - dread to think what would have happened a few miles previous Shocked

I ma not too bothered because even if the kingpin falls off the number plate is still worth more than a three bedroom semi in Swansea!

The damage was minimal. The local garage jacked it up, popped the king pin back in, then drove it slowly to the garage to replace the trunnion.

They are quite easy to replace, much like everything on a Minor. Trouble with modern cars is that once they break they really are broken!
